Mother Nature certainly has a sense of humor, doesn't she? I'm a hearty New Englander but this is getting ridiculous. The thing that's most disruptive is the constant rescheduling of every single thing in the calendar, both big and small. We need to add an extra day per week to make up for all this time!

Perhaps most troublesome is the strain this type of weather, and all its logistical headaches, brings to the retail community of our small town. With parking bans for snow removal and unsafe conditions to simply be outside, our local merchants are feeling the pinch. My March newsletter address to the membership is simply this: PLEASE REMEMBER OUR WINCHESTER MERCHANTS AND DO YOUR BEST TO SHOP LOCAL WITH EVERY OPPORTUNITY. Let's help make up some of the deficit from this winter by making the spring a banner season for our business owners.

I can't think of a better way to beat the winter blues than by pulling together as a community and lifting each other up with support.

Stay warm, folks!

Kim Miles
